IDT also specializes in electrical and mechanical design consultancy. Its expertise is in areas ranging from single-story to large campus areas. With over 15 years of experience in electrical projects and testing, IDT boasts a zero-design failure rate. Whilst IDT is primarily a Data Center consultant, it also provides designs and testing of electrical systems that range from a few KW to hyperscale capacities, both in single-story and multistorey buildings. IDT designs these systems to maximize the Coefficient Of Performance (COP)/ Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) and minimize the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratio so that our clients can benefit from minimized carbon emission and operating costs.

Over the years
2005 - 2011
IDT was first founded and registered in 2005 by Tharindu Meepegama as a Technology Company involved in Software and Web Development which subsequently transitioned into providing Systems Integration (SI) Services from 2010. During the time as an SI, IDT was involved in many projects across over 180 Clients in Sri Lanka including Multinational Companies which were initiating operations in Sri Lanka.
2012 - 2014
In 2012, IDT shifted gears again. At first, the company entered the Data Center world as a subcontractor. Quickly IDT started working directly with top clients, delivering design builds of over 20 Enterprise Data Centers to various Government, Blue Chip Companies, and SMEs in Sri Lanka.
At the same time, due to a keen interest in the Data Center Market in Sri Lanka and globally, Tharindu started personally engaging in training and certification for Data Center Design Consultancy in March 2013. He was one of the first four people in the world to achieve the prestigious Certified TIA-942 Internal Auditor Certification in July of 2014, making him one of the longest-serving certified TIA-942 Auditors in the world.
2015 - 2019
Based on this certification, he and the IDT Team were engaged by a Japanese Company that provides Data Center Consultancy Services worldwide named “Global Data Center Engineering” (GDCE) where Tharindu and the entire IDT Team were exposed to Large Scale Data Center Projects throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Thanks to IDT’s superior performance on the projects that were engaged, Tharindu was made a permanent part of the GDCE Team as well while continuing his work as the Founder and Lead Consultant at IDT.
2020 onwards
As of Q3, 2020 Tharindu is now also a Sitting Member of the TIA TR.42 Engineering Committee (the committee which overlooks the TIA-942 Standard) and is actively involved in several subcommittees. Tharindu is also the editor for the new revision of TIA-5017: Telecommunications Infrastructure Physical Security Standard.
